Heaven 2013

Hard-shell suitcase, video monitor, lenses, various electronics

Video: Krystian Macek (shot on location in the Turks and Caicos)

Thanks to: E.J. Lightman & Art Steinberg

Heaven is a video installation work that was developed in response to an artist project curated by E.J. Lightman and Carla Garnet. The curatorial framework for this exhibition presented artists from the Tree Museum Collective with a challenge to create art works from a variety of existing suitcases. The work that I produced for this exhibition involved incorporating a flat panel video display inside a hard shell suitcase. Through a series of “portholes” that were incorporated into the surface of the suitcase, the audience could observe a video playing of an underwater scene that was recorded on location in the Turks and Caicos. This work was created to pay homage to Art Steinberg. He was a great, kind man who loved scuba diving, and he is greatly missed by many on this earth.
